5 Carpet Cleaning Tips from Weston Florida’s Master of Marble

Carpet cleaning can be a challenge particularly when you have stubborn stains so to help you out, Weston, FL's carpet cleaning guru Benny Balistreri offers these 5 professional carpet cleaning tips.

Your carpet is perhaps the most important impression setting feature in your home. Your walls can have a fresh coat of paint, the furniture can be new and tasteful and your carpet can be clean except for that one little grease spot or wine stain and all anyone will see are those spots on the carpet.

Removing stains can be problematic particularly if they are allowed to sit for any time. Just as bad as ignoring a stain when it occurs is trying to clean it improperly. Our natural inclination to scrub and rub a stain actually does nothing but spread the stain and embeds it deeper in the fabric.

Stain removal doesn't have to be difficult if you just follow these 7 tips from Bernie, a professional cleaner:

  1. The Fine Art of Blotting. Blotting is the principal method of stain removal but there is a right way and a wrong way to get it done. When we say "blot" we really mean "dab." It's a gentle pressure with a clean cloth, paper towel or sponge. Always start blotting at the outside of the stain and work inward to avoid spreading the stain.
  2. Beer and Wine Stains. Take a tip from flight attendants and try blotting the stain with club soda and then using another cloth to blot up dampness. If that doesn't work try using a solution of 1 part vinegar and 1 part water.
  3. Unidentified Stains. A great general stain remover is men's shaving gel like Edge. Apply directly to the stain and wait 30 minutes. Once the shaving cream has set, use a cloth to wipe it away and then spray the area with the vinegar and water solution described above. Blot the dampness away with a clean cloth.
  4. Grease Stains. Always difficult, try using a few drops of grease cutting dish detergent like Dawn mixed with a cup of water in a spray bottle. Spray the stain and blot dry. You may have to do this several times to get a satisfactory result.
  5. Blood Stains. Those few drops of blood from an unexpected paper cut can cause a nasty distraction on an otherwise beautiful carpet. First apply the same solution as described in the grease stain above and blot dry. Next use a butter knife to scrape off or loosen as much of the remaining stain as possible. Lastly apply hydrogen peroxide directly to the stain. After it stops foaming use a clean cloth to blot up the dampness.

Of course cleaning up stains doesn't mean much if the rest of your carpet is dirty and dingy. For that you need the deep cleaning pros from Gold Star Cleaning and their truck mounted carpet cleaning system Call us today to make it happen.
